Visakhapatnam DRM Lalit Bohra Inaugurates Millet Art Exhibition on World Food Day
A Visakhapatnam exhibition features 16 millet paintings tracing changing food habits and promoting food heritage, healthy living and millet consumption.
Visakhapatnam Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra inaugurated an exhibition of paintings made with millets by Meka Vijay Kumar at the YMCA on Beach Road to mark World Food Day.
Mr. Bohra, who inaugurated the exhibition on Friday, said using art for a social cause was commendable.
He urged people to learn about and preserve their food heritage, adopt healthy living and include millets in their diet.
Meka Vijay Kumar, a railway employee, said the exhibition features 16 works created over six months.
The paintings trace the human journey with food, beginning with forests and millets and moving through agriculture, packaged food, fast-food culture and health problems.
This progression places the exhibition’s message in the context of changing food habits and the health concerns identified in the works.
The exhibition will continue for three days, giving visitors an opportunity to view the paintings and consider the place of millets in food heritage and healthy living.
