Udhayanidhi Stalin attacks TVK government over power cuts, inflation, law and order

Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has launched a sharp attack on the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of failing to tackle frequent power cuts, rising prices of essential commodities, and deteriorating law and order.

Speaking at a function in Chennai, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the people of Tamil Nadu are facing various problems because of the party in power, with new issues emerging every day. He pointed to daily power cuts and escalating prices of essentials as key concerns that the government has been unable to address.

Chief Minister unable to answer questions, says Udhayanidhi

The Opposition leader alleged that when questions were raised about these problems, the Chief Minister was unable to answer. "Because he is unable to answer, they are making defamatory allegations against the DMK and our leader [M.K. Stalin]," he said.

Mr. Udhayanidhi described Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay as "an uncivilised and a dummy Chief Minister," stating that Tamil Nadu has never seen such leadership in its history. He accused the TVK government of failing to implement any new schemes despite making various promises when they came to power.

Government renaming DMK schemes, alleges Opposition

"This government is involved in renaming the schemes and pasting stickers on the schemes rolled out by our Dravidian model government," Mr. Udhayanidhi said. He urged voters to use the upcoming bypolls to "teach a proper lesson to this dummy Chief Minister," calling it the beginning of the downfall of the current regime.

DMK entering important phase

The Opposition leader noted that the DMK was entering a very important phase, with the party set to celebrate its 'Mupperum Vizha' in two days. Reflecting on the party's 77-year history, he acknowledged that the DMK has witnessed many victories and defeats.

Beyond electoral outcomes, the DMK has always been a party that stands with the people, Mr. Udhayanidhi said. Even though the DMK missed the opportunity to come back to power, he said it has been functioning effectively as an Opposition party, and its cadre will always stand with the people.
