Tamil Nadu liquor prices rise ₹10 from November 1, bottle refund offered
Tasmac will add a ₹10 environment cess to liquor prices from November 1, with refunds available when empty bottles are returned.
The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) will increase the maximum retail price (MRP) of all liquor variants in the State by ₹10 from November 1. The increase will be made by adding an environment cess to the existing price.
Tipplers can get the ₹10 reimbursed by returning empty liquor bottles. The revision covers Indian Made Foreign Liquor, beer, wine, liquor from other States and imported liquor. Prices at FL2 and FL3 licenced premises will also be revised.
Revised labels and bottle-return stickers
Tasmac has instructed manufacturers and distributors to ensure that revised price labels are affixed at production facilities, wholesale depots and retail outlets. Existing stocks without buy back QR code stickers must be identified and labelled by October 31.
The Corporation has also instructed shop personnel not to collect any additional amount towards the scheme over and above the revised MRP. This means the revised price displayed at the outlet will include the ₹10 addition linked to the environment cess.
Training for shop personnel
Tasmac has instructed all district managers to conduct training for shop supervisors and shop personnel on the revised MRP and the bill generation system. The training is intended to cover the price change and the billing process connected with the revised system.
Tasmac’s instructions state that any deviation will be viewed seriously. The officers and personnel concerned shall be held responsible for such deviations. The report was published on October 31, 2026, at 12:16 am IST.
