Suriya plays ruthless cop DSP Inbaraj in Jithu Madhavan's Scene for Deepavali

Tamil actor Suriya will play DSP Inbaraj, a ruthless police officer, in Scene, his next film with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan, the team revealed through a title teaser released Wednesday.

The project, also produced by Suriya, is scheduled to hit theatres on November 6 for Deepavali. The teaser footage offers the first glimpse of Suriya's character, a cop described as fear-inducing whose entrance signals the version of the star Jithu intends to showcase.

A darker law enforcement persona

"In the name of talent, you guys keep burying his nasty side," a voice warns as Inbaraj arrives in his jeep. The teaser then provides brief scenes showing how Inbaraj runs his jail. "For you, I might be the only cop who managed to arrest you. But for me, you are just one of the thousands of scum I have locked up in prison," he tells someone.

In an unexpected moment, the footage also reveals Suriya in a younger, dashing appearance as he walks out in the rain.

Cast and crew

Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, John Vijay and Anandraj round out the cast of Scene. Popular YouTuber Rajpriyan is also acting in the film. Plot details have not been disclosed.

Sushin Shyam, who has worked with Jithu repeatedly, is composing the music for Scene. Vineeth Augustian handles cinematography, Ashwini Kale serves as production designer, and Ajmal Sabu is the editor. Chethan D'Souza takes on stunt choreography duties. Suriya and Jyotika are producing Scene under their Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment banners.

What comes next for Suriya and Jithu

Suriya was last seen in Venky Atluri's Vishwanath & Sons, co-starring Mamitha Baiju. Following Scene, the actor will appear in a film by Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel, produced by Hombale Films.

Jithu Madhavan attracted attention with his blockbuster debut feature, Romancham. The director followed it with the widely acclaimed blockbuster Aavesham, starring Fahadh Faasil, which earned over ₹150 crores at the box office. Jithu also wrote the screenplay for Balan: The Boy, the last release from Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram.
