Somanna urges Amit Shah to include Kadugolla community in ST list
Union Minister Somanna urges Amit Shah to include Kadugolla community in ST list for their development and upliftment.
Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna has formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite the inclusion of the Kadugolla community in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list. The petition was submitted during a meeting on Thursday.
Proposal Under Review by Tribal Affairs Ministry
In his letter, Somanna referred to an earlier petition and noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had informed him that the Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI) had already examined the proposal and forwarded it to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for further consideration.
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Somanna described the Kadugolla community as “one of the most backward communities in Karnataka.” He argued that their inclusion in the ST category would significantly aid their social, educational, and economic development, aligning with the constitutional vision of upliftment for marginalized groups.
Call for Immediate Action
Somanna urged Shah to issue appropriate directions to ensure the Kadugolla community’s inclusion in the ST list. The move, he emphasized, is critical for addressing the longstanding challenges faced by the community.
This development comes as part of ongoing efforts to address disparities and ensure equitable opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities in India.
