Sambhal: A review meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium to assess preparations for the grand, dignified and transparent organisation of the Uttar Pradesh government’s Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme in Sambhal district. The meeting was chaired by the District Magistrate, and preparations were reviewed in detail with all departmental officers associated with the scheme.

The meeting focused on ensuring that 100% of eligible families receive the benefits of the scheme. Officials were also instructed to ensure that the programme is conducted transparently and that all arrangements are completed within the prescribed time.

Block Development Officers (BDOs) from all blocks in the district, Executive Officers (EOs) of the municipalities and nagar panchayats, and officers from the Social Welfare Department, Supply Department and other concerned departments were present at the meeting.

Applications and beneficiary verification reviewed

The status of applications received block-wise and local-body-wise was reviewed point by point. Officials also examined the lists of eligible and ineligible beneficiaries, along with the arrangements being made at the proposed event venues.

Officials were directed to conduct extensive publicity for the scheme in every village. The purpose of this instruction was to ensure that no eligible poor family is deprived of the benefits of the scheme.

They were also told to complete the scrutiny of all applications within the stipulated time in a fair and transparent manner. The instructions made it clear that ineligible applicants must not be included under any circumstances.

Instructions on venue arrangements and security

The authorities were directed to complete all arrangements at the marriage ceremony venues on time and in accordance with the standards prescribed by the government.

These arrangements must include clean drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply, fire extinguishers, cleanliness, adequate seating arrangements, quality food and the availability of the standardised marriage material kit prescribed by the government.

The meeting also reviewed security arrangements for the ceremony venues. Officials were instructed to ensure strong security across the premises, round-the-clock monitoring through CCTV cameras, deployment of women police personnel and proper crowd management.

Warning of strict action

Officials were clearly warned that the scheme is linked to the dignity of poor daughters. Therefore, no laxity, negligence or corruption at any level in the organisation of the programme would be tolerated.

It was stated that if negligence by any officer or employee comes to light, responsibility would be fixed and strict departmental action would be taken against the person concerned.

The meeting also directed officials to ensure that the grant amount and material to be given to the newly married couples after the marriage reach their bank accounts and their hands on time.
