Appointment approved by Health Minister

She has been associated with the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare in various positions for the past 37 years.

Department screened multiple profiles

Before selecting Dr. Venkataramana, the department had considered the profiles of seven officials for the post.

According to a release from the department, two of the officials considered had inquiries pending against them.

Another two officials did not have the requisite experience, the department said.

The department’s release also said another official had worked as the District Medical and Health Officer only for three months.

Yet another official considered for the post was set to retire in June next, according to the release.
