PSG stages dramatic comeback to draw 2-2 at Lille in injury time

Paris Saint-Germain snatched a 2-2 draw at Lille on Friday night after scoring twice in stoppage time, extending their winless run in domestic competition to three matches at the start of their Ligue 1 title defence.

Marquinhos headed home the equaliser four minutes into injury time to complete an improbable comeback after PSG had trailed 2-0. The Brazilian defender's goal came just three minutes after Vitinha curled a superb strike into the top-left corner in the 91st minute to give the champions hope.

Lille Dominate Before Late Collapse

The hosts appeared set to secure victory at Stade Pierre-Mauroy under manager Davide Ancelotti, who is leading Lille in only his second match in charge. Former France striker Olivier Giroud, now 39, orchestrated both Lille goals with precise assists.

Icelandic playmaker Hákon Haraldsson opened the scoring in the 21st minute, latching onto a brilliant reverse pass from Giroud and firing an unstoppable shot from 20 yards past goalkeeper Matvei Safonov. Dilane Bakwa, making his debut following a loan move from Nottingham Forest, appeared to seal the points when he curled in a fine second goal in the 84th minute.

Champions Struggle Despite Attacking Talent

Despite their attacking riches, the Parisians struggled to create clear chances as Lille packed their defence and forced the champions to attack from wide areas. PSG manager Luis Enrique had praised Ancelotti before the match, calling him "very intelligent and a very good coach" based on his work alongside his father Carlo at Real Madrid.

The draw mirrors PSG's opening weekend, when they also came from 2-0 down to draw against Rennes. The reigning champions are yet to win domestically this season after losing 1-0 to Lens in the Trophee des Champions, though they did beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the Uefa Super Cup.

Vitinha proved instrumental in the late rescue act, first scoring the breakthrough goal before delivering the cross that Marquinhos converted for the equaliser. The Portuguese international's superb strike curled into the top corner to throw PSG a lifeline in the first minute of stoppage time.

The result means PSG have now extended their winless run against domestic opposition to three matches, a concerning start for the team aiming to defend their title. For Lille, the late collapse denied them what would have been only their second occasion winning their opening two Ligue 1 fixtures in the last 20 seasons.
