Prabhudeva to Inaugurate Yuva Dasara-2026 After Six-Year Absence from Mysuru Festivities

Prabhudeva will inaugurate Yuva Dasara-2026 on Tuesday after deciding to attend Mysuru Dasara this year, following an absence of the past five to six years. Speaking to reporters on Monday, the actor, choreographer and director said he was happy and excited to be part of the festivities.

He added that his family members were even more excited about his visit.

Family’s connection with Mysuru Dasara

“My mother, family members, and relatives know how important Mysuru Dasara is, and they are all overjoyed that I am here,” Prabhudeva said.

His remarks highlighted the importance of the festival for his family as well as for the place where he comes from.

Prabhudeva said he belonged to a village near Mysuru, where Dasara was regarded as a special and important celebration by everyone in the village.

He also recalled his association with Mysuru, including visits to the palace, watching the Dasara elephants and visiting Chamundi Hill.

Surprise over Yuva Dasara’s popularity

Prabhudeva said he was surprised to learn about the popularity of Yuva Dasara, the event he is scheduled to inaugurate on Tuesday.

He explained that, when he was a school-going boy, he usually visited Mysuru during the summer holidays in April and May, which was why he had missed the festival.

His decision to attend this year’s celebrations is therefore tied to both his personal association with Mysuru and his family’s strong connection with Dasara.

During his visit, Prabhudeva called on spritual leader Shivarathri Deshikendra at Suttur Mutt and sought his blessings.

He also met Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara of Gavi Mutt, Koppal, on the mutt premises.

Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara had inaugurated the Mysuru Dasara festivities atop Chamundi Hill on Sunday.

Prabhudeva’s mother accompanied him during the visit.

The Yuva Dasara Sub-Committee members also met Prabhudeva, invited him once again to inaugurate the event and felicitated him on the occasion.
