Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the newly renovated Mangalagiri railway station in Andhra Pradesh on July 17. The station, modernised under the Centre's Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at a cost of ₹12.56 crore, now boasts upgraded passenger amenities and improved infrastructure. Mangalagiri station plays a key role in connecting the region to the state capital, Amaravati.

Modern Facilities and Accessibility Upgrades

The redevelopment has transformed Mangalagiri, an NSG-4 category station, with significant upgrades to its infrastructure. The project includes a renovated main station building and a newly constructed second entry complex featuring a booking office, waiting halls, and a VIP lounge.

Passenger convenience has been prioritised with additions such as modern toilets, enhanced waiting areas, durable seating, and tactile pathways for visually impaired passengers. Accessibility has further been improved with the installation of two lifts, ramps, and accessible toilets for persons with disabilities.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

The station now features an upgraded facade, a spacious entrance porch, and improved platform surfacing. New platform shelters have been installed on platforms 1 and 4. The front and rear circulating areas have been redesigned to include dedicated parking spaces, pedestrian pathways, street lighting, and wider entry and exit gates.

Additional amenities include retiring rooms, modern booking facilities, and artistic elements that reflect the cultural identity of the region. Landscaping around the station adds to its aesthetic appeal.

Boost to Regional Development

Railway officials have highlighted the socio-economic benefits of the project. The revamped station is expected to enhance passenger convenience, improve operational efficiency, and support the development of the Mangalagiri region.

The inauguration marks another step in the government's efforts to modernise railway infrastructure under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
