Himalayan Car Rally and Night Safari Planned in Pauri to Boost Tourism

Pauri is preparing to introduce new tourism activities, including the Himalayan Car Rally-2026 and a night safari, as part of efforts to develop the district as a new tourism destination and give wider recognition to its natural beauty and tourism potential.

The Himalayan Car Rally will pass through different parts of Pauri district on 04 and 05 December. The rally is being organised in Uttarakhand for the first time. A night safari is also planned from Kholachauri to Adwani as a 15-day pilot project.

These initiatives are expected to expand tourism activities in the district and create opportunities for local employment and self-employment.

Preparations reviewed in meeting

The Himalayan Car Rally-2026 will be held from 02 to 06 December under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council. The event will seek to showcase Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, mountain routes and tourism destinations on a wider platform.

Different stages of the rally will be held in Pauri Garhwal district on 04 and 05 December. A meeting was held to review preparations for the event under the chairpersonship of District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria, with officials from the departments concerned.

The meeting reviewed the proposed route, schedule, road conditions, traffic management, security arrangements and disaster-management preparations.

Rally route through Pauri areas

The rally will begin from Ramnagar on 03 December. Vehicle scrutiny and participant briefing will be conducted there before the event moves ahead.

On 04 December, the rally will enter the district through Mohan-Marchula. It will then pass through the designated routes from Kyarki-Malli towards Nainidanda, as well as through Semri-Talli, Nainidanda, Lansdowne, Dugadda and Yamkeshwar.

The rally’s passage through these routes will provide an opportunity to promote the district’s mountain tourism destinations and natural scenery at the national level.

Alongside the rally, the proposed night safari from Kholachauri to Adwani will begin as a 15-day pilot project. The plan is part of the district’s effort to introduce new tourism experiences while expanding activities in areas known for their natural surroundings.
