A one-and-a-half-month-old baby girl named Pooja was allegedly abducted from Gwalior bus stand while she was sleeping with her mother. The child’s mother had left the spot with a female friend for some work. When she returned, her elder daughter was still asleep, but Pooja was missing. Police have launched a search across the city and are examining CCTV footage that shows a suspected person carrying the baby and walking away.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Padav police station. The disappearance of the infant triggered concern in the police department. After searching the nearby area without finding the child, the mother reached the bus stand police outpost and informed the police.

According to the information available, Radha Ahirwar, a resident of Tikamgarh, had come to Gwalior three days ago with her husband Harishchandra and their two daughters. The family had come in search of labour work. Since they had no place to stay in the city, all of them were spending the night at the bus stand.

On Sunday, Harishchandra went out for labour work. It was stated that he returned after drinking alcohol. A dispute then broke out between the husband and wife over money. Radha alleged that her husband had spent the money earned from labour on alcohol. She said that she did not even have money to buy milk for the two children.

Some time after the dispute, Harishchandra said that he had a headache and went to sleep at the bus stand itself. Radha then somehow arranged money by begging. She bought milk and fed both her daughters before putting them to sleep.

At that time, a woman and two other people were also sitting nearby. Radha left both her daughters sleeping at the spot and went away with a female friend for some work.

When she returned after about an hour, she found that her elder daughter was still asleep. However, the one-and-a-half-month-old Pooja had disappeared. Radha searched for the baby in the surrounding area, but could not find any information about her. She became frightened.

During inquiries, she came to know that a person had taken the baby away with him. Radha immediately went to the bus stand police outpost and informed the police about the disappearance.

After receiving the information, the police informed senior officers about the seriousness of the matter. A blockade was put in place across the city, and vehicles began to be checked. Police teams also examined CCTV footage from the bus stand and nearby areas.

During the examination of the footage, a person who appeared to be carrying the infant in his arms was seen walking away. The footage shows the suspected person leaving with the baby on foot. After this footage came to light, the police intensified efforts to identify the suspect and trace Pooja.

The search operation was extended to several locations. Police searched buses parked near the bus stand and also conducted an intensive search at the railway station, Mela Ground and other possible places. A blockade was put in place in different parts of the city as police looked for the suspected person.

However, no clue about the baby or the person who took her could be found until late at night. The police continued looking into the CCTV footage to trace the suspect and locate Pooja.

On the complaint filed by Radha Ahirwar, police registered a case under kidnapping sections against an unidentified accused. The search is currently being conducted on the basis of the CCTV footage.

The disappearance of the one-and-a-half-month-old baby has left the family in distress. Radha has been crying continuously over the loss of her daughter. The immediate challenge before the police is to locate Pooja and recover her safely.
