Speaking on the ‘Call Me Daddy’ podcast, the actress reflected on the challenges they faced and the pivotal moment that led to their separation.

Wilde revealed that the turning point occurred on March 10, 2020, during a car ride home from her birthday party. The couple, who had been experiencing difficulties in their partnership, had a brief but revealing conversation. She recalled asking Sudeikis if he had gotten her a birthday present, to which he responded, "What would I get you, Olivia? I don't know you." Wilde admitted, "He wasn't wrong. We didn't know each other anymore."

This realization prompted Wilde to reflect deeply on their relationship, noting that they had stopped engaging in the process of truly knowing and being curious about one another. She shared that this experience even influenced her creative work, inspiring her to make the film ‘The Invite.’ Ultimately, the couple decided that their relationship had run its course.

Just two days after coming to this conclusion, the COVID-19 lockdown began, forcing them—and the rest of the world—into an unprecedented period of isolation. Despite their separation, Wilde emphasized that she and Sudeikis have maintained a positive co-parenting relationship for their two children, Daisy and Otis.

During the podcast, Wilde praised Sudeikis as a "very capable co-parent" and spoke about the adjustments that come with shared custody. She explained that dividing parenting responsibilities has allowed both of them to bring their best selves to their children. "You have to find the balance," she said, adding, "They get the best of us."

Wilde and Sudeikis began their relationship in 2011 after meeting at a ‘Saturday Night Live’ after-party. They got engaged in 2013 but ultimately decided to part ways in 2020 without marrying. Despite their breakup, they continue to share custody of their children, prioritizing their well-being above all else.
