A mehendi camp for women was organised at Shiv Chowk in Muzaffarnagar on the occasion of Karwa Chauth by the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, the International Sant Mahasabha and the Hindu Mahasabha Jan Kalyan Trust.
The organisers said that women who attended the camp were provided mehendi as part of the Karwa Chauth celebrations. Mehendi was applied to what the organisation described as “Sanatani sisters” at the camp.
The programme was organised by Hindu Mahasabha national treasurer Sakshi Verma, national office secretary Anu Tyagi, Mahi Chaudhary, Rakhi Prajapati and their team. Women office-bearers and workers of the organisation also took part in the programme.
During the camp, the Hindu Mahasabha appealed to “Sanatani sisters” to give priority to Sanatani women when getting mehendi applied. The organisation also appealed to people to boycott members of the Muslim community for mehendi-related services and not get mehendi applied by them.
The camp was held specifically for women during the Karwa Chauth occasion. The organisation said the event was arranged to make mehendi available to women celebrating the festival at Shiv Chowk.
Roji, who had reached the camp to get mehendi applied, spoke about the place of mehendi in the Karwa Chauth celebrations. Her statement, as given in the source, was: “करवा चौथ के पावन पर्व मे हमारे सोलह सिंगर में से मेहंदी भी एक हमारा सिंगर है सनातनियों के हर त्यौहार में सबसे पहले महिलाओं के द्वारा मेहंदी की लगवाई जाती है इसीलिए हमारे धर्म में मेहंदी को बहुत ही सर्वोच्च माना गया है”
