Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers Linked to Raiders Star Maxx Crosby Amid Trade Rumors

The Las Vegas Raiders' elite defensive end Maxx Crosby has become a focal point of trade speculation, with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers reportedly expressing interest in the star player. However, Crosby's hefty contract and recent history may complicate any potential moves.

Crosby, who signed a four-year, $94 million deal with the Raiders in March 2022, later extended his contract in March 2025 with a three-year, $106.5 million deal that includes $91.5 million in guaranteed money. This extension keeps him under contract through the 2029 season. By 2026, Crosby is set to earn a $30 million base salary, while carrying a $35 million cap hit and a $64 million dead cap value. His total career earnings currently stand at $96 million.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to Crosby in the past, and Sports Illustrated’s Jeff Kerr suggests they might revisit their interest if he becomes available. Kerr noted that pairing Crosby with linebacker Jonathan Greenard could create a formidable defensive duo, though the financial challenge of paying Crosby $35.5 million per year alongside Greenard’s potential $25 million salary could be significant. Under GM Howie Roseman, however, the Eagles could potentially navigate these costs through contract extensions and voided years.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers have also been named as a potential suitor for Crosby. Raiders insider Honda Carpenter described interest from both the Eagles and 49ers as "nuclear hot." With Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa’s older brother, still a free agent, Crosby could provide the 49ers with a reliable edge rusher to complement their defensive line, especially given Nick Bosa’s history of injuries.

Despite the interest, Crosby’s high price tag remains a significant hurdle. NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan stated that the 49ers were unlikely to pursue Crosby due to his expensive contract. Additionally, Crosby’s recent rejection by the Baltimore Ravens in early 2026 after failing a physical adds another layer of complexity. Any franchise attempting to trade for Crosby would likely require another physical, and failure could see him remain with the Raiders as the 2026 season approaches.
