Malabar Milma doubles cattle feed subsidy to support Kerala dairy farmers

Malabar Milma has doubled the subsidy on its flagship cattle feed to ₹200 per 50-kg bag and allocated ₹1.72 crore to support dairy farmers across northern Kerala through September 2026.

Enhanced support for primary societies

The Malabar Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited announced the increase during a recent administrative committee meeting aimed at easing the financial burden on local producers. The subsidy for Gomathi Gold, Milma's balanced cattle feed, now stands at ₹200 per 50-kg bag, double the earlier rate. For Milma Bypass, a specialised feed for high-yielding cows, the union will provide ₹100 per 50-kg bag.

Dairy farmers buying True Meal TMR feed, manufactured by the Malabar Rural Development Foundation, through their local cooperatives will receive a subsidy of ₹1 per kg. The reduced rates will be available across all primary dairy cooperative societies in the Malabar region throughout September 2026.

Wide reach across six districts

The ₹172-lakh welfare initiative is set to reach over 1,00,000 active dairy farmers working through more than 1,000 cooperative societies in six districts of northern Kerala: Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Milma chairman K.S. Mani and managing director N.K. Premlal also confirmed an emergency grant of ₹1 lakh for the dependants of Prabitha, the late president of the Kalkundu Dairy Cooperative in Malappuram district, who died from electrocution.
