The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has directed the National Highways Authority of India to finish construction of the pedestrian underpass between Marottichodu and Edappally Market on NH 66 within two months.

The Commission had registered a suo motu case after news reports highlighted that the foot overbridge and pedestrian lines at the location had become largely unusable because of the ongoing underpass construction work. The underpass is being built near the upcoming flyover on the southern side of Edappally Junction.
The Commission also considered a complaint filed by Alumkal George, convener of the Edappally-Thrikkakara NH Nadapatha Samrakshana Samithi, on the same issue.
