Karwa Chauth Preparations Underway in Shravasti, Married Women Observe Waterless Fast

In Shravasti, married women have begun preparations for Karwa Chauth and are observing a fast for their husbands’ long lives. In a Punjabi family in Ikauna, Karwa Chauth worship was conducted with devotion and according to traditional rituals. The women, dressed in sixteen traditional adornments, offered prayers, while an atmosphere of enthusiasm and devotion was visible in the homes. After keeping a waterless fast throughout the day, the women are now waiting for the moon to rise. They are waiting to catch a glimpse of the moon and perform the ritual of breaking the fast after receiving water from their husbands’ hands. The festival has created particular excitement among the women.
