Hong Kong temperatures drop to 23 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning, lowest this autumn
A dry northeast monsoon was behind a cooler morning in Hong Kong, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
Temperatures fell to about 23 degrees Celsius, or 73 Fahrenheit, on Tuesday morning, making it the lowest recorded so far this autumn.
Cloudy and dry conditions expected
The weather will be mainly cloudy and dry on Tuesday, although sunny intervals are expected during the day.
Temperatures are forecast to rise to around 29 degrees.
The change in conditions comes as the dry northeast monsoon affects the region and brings cooler morning weather.
The forecaster said the monsoon would bring mainly fine weather to the coast of Guangdong over the next couple of days.
It also said the region would be windier and slightly cooler in the morning.
Monsoon expected to weaken
The Hong Kong Observatory said the monsoon is expected to moderate slightly in the latter part of this week to early next week.
That outlook suggests the current cooler and windier pattern may ease somewhat as the monsoon weakens, although the forecast still points to mainly fine conditions along the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days.
