Hong Kong immigration authorities have arrested four women accused of breaching tourist visa conditions by offering paid visitor services through an unlicensed one-stop shop.

Four women arrested over alleged visa breaches

Li Kwing-chiu, a task force commander with the Immigration Department, revealed on Monday that the suspects were aged 20 to 31.

He said the four women were arrested for allegedly breaching their conditions of stay by running an unlicensed one-stop shop.

The operation allegedly charged several hundred Hong Kong dollars a day for services offered to tourists.

According to the Immigration Department, the services included cosmetic, photography and tour guide services.

Li added that the suspects entered the city on tourist visas on Sunday and Monday.

Warning over social media purchases

The Immigration Department said Hong Kong authorities are cracking down on tourists abusing their visas to run unlicensed one-stop shops.

Li warned visitors and residents to be careful when buying services through social media.

“We urge visitors and residents to be cautious when using social media to purchase services and refrain from purchasing services from unknown sources out of convenience, as this may offend the law,” he warned.

The department’s warning links the alleged visa breaches to paid services marketed to visitors, including cosmetic, photography and tour guide offerings.
