Vidisha: A video showing a forest ranger chasing a truck while holding a government weapon has gone viral on social media. The incident took place during action against illegal stone mining in the Udaipur area of Ganjbasoda.

The forest department had intercepted a truck carrying illegally mined stones. When the driver tried to flee with the seized vehicle, Ranger Anil Kumar took out a government pistol and ran after the truck. A passer-by recorded the entire incident on a mobile phone, and the video has now become a topic of discussion on social media.

Driver tried to flee with seized truck

According to the information available, the forest department team had received information about the illegal transportation of stones in the Udaipur area. The team reached the spot and took action against the vehicle carrying the stones.

After seizing the truck, forest department personnel began taking it to the range office. During this process, the driver, Shahid Khan, suddenly increased the speed of the truck and tried to escape with the vehicle.

As the situation worsened, Ranger Anil Kumar took out his government weapon and began chasing the truck. The video shows the ranger running after the vehicle while holding the weapon. The recording made by a passer-by was later circulated on social media.

DFO explains why weapon was taken out

After the video went viral, forest department officials explained the circumstances surrounding the incident. Forest Divisional Officer (DFO) Hemant Yadav said that government weapons are provided to officers for the protection of forest resources and the safety of field staff.

According to the DFO, officers can use weapons in self-defence if they face an attack or if a situation creates a threat to their lives. He said the weapon was taken out as a precaution after the truck driver sped away and a security risk emerged.

The DFO also made it clear that the ranger did not fire a shot in this case. He said the weapon was taken out because the driver was speeding away with the vehicle and the circumstances posed a security-related danger.

Hemant Yadav said forest personnel had been injured earlier while taking action against illegal mining and while protecting forest resources. He added that some forest personnel had even lost their lives during such duties.

Driver arrested, truck seized

The forest department has seized the truck as part of the action. Driver Shahid Khan has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him. A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Viral video raises questions over field staff safety

The incident has once again drawn attention to illegal mining and the illegal transportation of stones. The safety of forest personnel during enforcement action has also become a subject of discussion.

The video has raised questions about the risks faced by field staff while acting against illegal excavation. It has also brought focus to the circumstances in which forest officials have to respond when a seized vehicle is allegedly driven away during departmental action.
