Devendra Kashyap, national president of the Social Justice Party, has announced that his organisation will no longer rely only on sit-ins, protests and memoranda to raise its demands. He said the party would now work towards securing a share in power and use political participation to seek solutions to the issues of the Extremely Backward Class.

An Extremely Backward Class Mahapanchayat was organised at the GIC ground in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday under the banner of the Social Justice Party. People from Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Meerut, Bijnor, Shamli and Hapur, along with several nearby districts, took part in the gathering.

The participants raised various demands, including reservation for the Extremely Backward Class. The Mahapanchayat, organised under the leadership of Devendra Kashyap, also discussed the party’s future strategy on the reservation issue.

Addressing the gathering, Kashyap said that his organisation had been holding sit-ins, protests and submitting memoranda for a long time to press for reservation. However, he said that their demands had not yet been resolved.

Kashyap then made an announcement from the stage about the protest being held over the reservation demand outside the Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate’s office. He said the sit-in at the office would be ended from Wednesday.

He said the organisation would now move beyond raising demands only through protests and demonstrations. According to Kashyap, the Social Justice Party would seek participation in power and work towards getting the problems of the concerned communities resolved through that route.

Speaking about the upcoming election, Kashyap said that the Social Justice Party would contest from all 403 assembly seats in the state by fielding its own candidates. He also spoke about defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party in the election.

Kashyap claimed that members of the Kashyap community, along with people from the Saini, Prajapati, Jogi, Pal and Kumar communities, had now become aware of their rights. He said his organisation would continue its struggle over the demands of these groups.

Through the Mahapanchayat, the Social Justice Party highlighted the issues of reservation and political participation for the Extremely Backward Class. During his address, Devendra Kashyap also shared the organisation’s future political strategy.

The report was filed by Anmol Kumar, Muzaffarnagar correspondent. The mobile number listed with the report is 7078215007.
