Delhi University Admissions: 63,756 Students Confirm Seats in Round 1

63,756 Students Secure DU Admissions in Round 1; Over 48,000 Seek Upgrades

Delhi University (DU) has wrapped up the first round of undergraduate admissions under its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for the 2026 academic year. A total of 63,756 students have confirmed their seats, with 15,265 opting to freeze their choices while 48,153 have chosen the upgrade option to aim for higher preferences in subsequent rounds.

Freeze vs. Upgrade: What Students Are Choosing

The freeze option allows candidates to retain their currently allotted college or course, signaling their final decision. In contrast, the upgrade option enables students to keep their current seat while vying for a more preferred course or institution in future rounds. This flexibility has proven popular, with over 75% of admitted students opting for upgrades.

Slight Increase in Admissions

The latest figures show a modest rise compared to the earlier data released on July 21, when 61,932 students had confirmed admissions after paying the requisite fees. The allocation list for Round 1 was initially announced on July 16, 2026.

Scale of DU Admissions

This year, DU offered seats to 93,033 candidates for over 71,000 undergraduate seats across 221 programmes in 67 colleges. A total of 2.08 lakh candidates had completed Phase II of the admission process, submitting their course and college preferences. The next allocation list for Round 2 is set to be released on July 25, as per the official CSAS UG 2026 schedule.

Academic Session Begins Soon

The academic session for second, third, and fourth-year students will commence on July 28. Freshers and other applicants are advised to monitor the CSAS UG portal for updates regarding the ongoing counselling process.
