CPI(M) march to Srikakulam over Narayanapuram land grabbing issue

CPI(M) leaders and workers walked nearly 15 km to Srikakulam district headquarters to protest the alleged grabbing of Narayanapuram lands, with District Secretary D. Govinda Rao demanding a high-level government probe into the issue.

March held despite heavy rain

Mr. Govinda Rao said the Narayanapuram lands had been cultivated by farmers for many decades and demanded that the government examine the alleged land grabbing through a high-level inquiry.

He led the ‘padayatra’ from Chilakapalem to Srikakulam along with CPI(M) senior leaders Pakala Tejeswara Rao, Ch.Ammannaidu and others, despite heavy rain along the route.

The protest march reached the district headquarters after covering nearly 15 km, where the leaders and party workers registered their opposition to the alleged land grabbing issue.

CPI(M) warns of Amaravati march

“The government should take back the lands from influential persons and distribute them to cultivators. Otherwise, we will take up another ‘padayatra’ to Amaravati to step up pressure on the government,” said Mr. Govinda Rao.

Farmers, along with their family members, also joined the protest and raised slogans against the government.
