The Comptroller and Auditor General of India and IIT Madras have opened enrolment for a four-month online certification that will train auditors to scrutinize digital government and enterprise systems, marking a structured effort to bring accountability frameworks into India's expanding digital infrastructure.
K. Sanjay Murthy, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, launched the foundational-level certification under the three-tier CADS programme on Thursday in the presence of V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras. The initiative has been developed to equip learners with specialised competencies required to assure transparency, accountability, and governance in the digital era.
Three-tier pathway from basics to expert audits
Learners will subsequently be able to pursue Proficient- and Expert-level certifications, enabling them to advance from foundational digital audit competencies to leading complex, multi-domain digital audit engagements. The programme structure allows progression through ascending levels of technical complexity in digital audit practice.
Six domains covering AI, cyber security, and public platforms
The programme offers Public Audit and five core domains: Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Digital Public Platforms and Privacy, and Artificial Intelligence. This breadth reflects the range of systems now embedded in government operations and enterprise workflows that require independent audit oversight.
The fully online programme will be open to anyone holding or pursuing an undergraduate degree anywhere in the country. The four-month duration and online delivery model aim to make specialized audit training accessible beyond traditional in-person cohorts.
