Burglars steal gold and cash from farmer's home in Tiruvannamalai
Thieves broke into a farmer's house in Tiruvannamalai, stealing 20 sovereigns of gold, silver items, and ₹60,000 in cash. Police investigation underway.
A 68-year-old farmer and his wife returned from their fields to find their home broken into and valuables worth lakhs stolen in Thachambadi village near Chetpet town in Tiruvannamalai.
V. Kannappan and his wife Chinna Kulathai, 62, noticed damage to the main door of their house when they came back from their farm. Upon checking the cupboard inside, the couple discovered that burglars had made away with 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery, one kilogram of silver objects, and around ₹60,000 in cash.
Police investigation underway
Chetpet police reached the house along with forensic experts after being informed about the theft. Fingerprints were lifted from the scene, and officers also collected CCTV camera footage from the area.
Superintendent of Police M. Sudhakar has formed special teams to track down and apprehend the culprits. A case has been registered, and the investigation is currently in progress.
