Blocked drainage traps rainwater, submerges 120 homes in Pratapgarh village

Persistent rainfall has created a severe waterlogging crisis in Raja Ka Purwa village under Kalakankar block area's Kadrau gram panchayat in Pratapgarh, submerging around 120 houses and leaving residents in distress.

The flooding has been caused by a blocked drainage channel that has prevented rainwater from flowing out, trapping water within the village and creating hazardous conditions for the local population.

Water has accumulated around the homes of several families due to the waterlogging. Villagers living in kutcha houses are gripped by fear of their dwellings collapsing and potential accidents occurring as the stagnant water weakens the structures.

Residents have complained that despite continuous rainfall, no proper drainage arrangement has been made to channel the water away. The blockage in the drainage channel has caused water to keep collecting within the village limits, compounding the residents' difficulties.

Movement in and out of the village has also been affected by the waterlogging, further isolating the affected families and hampering their daily activities.

Villagers have appealed to the administration demanding immediate cleaning of the drainage channel to enable water discharge and to provide relief to the families impacted by the flooding. They are seeking urgent intervention to address the drainage crisis and restore normalcy to their lives.
