BJP sweeps Rajasthan urban polls, outnumbers Congress in ward count

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the BJP's performance in Rajasthan's urban local body elections as evidence that truth has triumphed over what he called the "echo of falsehood". The saffron party outpaced the Congress, claiming 4,179 wards to the opposition's 3,613 and securing outright control in four of the state's ten municipal corporations.

"Heartfelt gratitude to the public for securing a resounding victory for the BJP in the Rajasthan local body elections. This is proof of the victory of truth over the echo of falsehood," Mr. Modi said in a post on X in Hindi. He argued that the mandate has reinforced public backing for the policies of good governance and development pursued by the double-engine government.

The Prime Minister added that the outcome will strengthen the BJP's determination to propel the state toward new milestones of progress and bring happiness into the lives of every individual. "On this occasion, many congratulations to all the winning candidates as well as the dedicated and hardworking workers of the party," he said.

The election results mark a significant gain for the BJP in Rajasthan's urban civic landscape, with the party sweeping a clear majority of the contested wards across the state. The Congress trailed despite contesting aggressively in the urban centres.
