The A.P. Government Doctors’ Association (APGDA) has demanded the immediate release of pending salaries for teaching doctors working in government medical colleges, along with the implementation of the 2016 University Grants Commission (UGC) pay revision.

Demand raised at State-level conference

The demands were raised at a State-level conference organised by the APGDA in Vijayawada on Saturday.

APGDA State president D. Jayadheer Babu and general secretary B. Ramesh Kumar urged the government to act without further delay on the pending salaries of teaching doctors.

They also called for the implementation of the 2016 UGC pay revision, which was among the issues discussed at the conference.

JAC Amaravati State chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu said government doctors played a crucial role in protecting public health.

He said the government had a responsibility to safeguard the financial and service-related benefits of doctors.

Mr. Venkateswarlu assured the gathering that the doctors’ grievances would be brought to the government’s attention.

MLC Allapati Rajendra Prasad said the demands raised by the teaching doctors were justified.

He assured the doctors that he would take up their concerns with the Chief Minister and work towards resolving them through discussions.

Several representatives of employee, teacher and pensioners’ organisations attended the conference.

The association’s demand places pending salaries and the implementation of the pay revision at the centre of the concerns raised by teaching doctors in government medical colleges.
