Amal College Teacher Wins Guinness Record for Simultaneous Book Signing

Umesh U., head of the Department of Commerce at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur, received the official Guinness certificate last week for a record involving simultaneous book signing.

The record was set when 1,572 authors signed their own books at the same time. The achievement surpassed the previous record of 1,502 authors, which was set at the Sharjah International Book Fair in 2019.

Record-setting book signing

The event was organised in collaboration with ESN Publications and the London Organisation of Skills Development (LOSD). Eighteen fifth-semester B.Com students of Amal College volunteered at the event.

The record adds to Mr. Umesh’s earlier association with Guinness World Records. In 2023, he was part of an effort to create the world’s thickest unpublished book. That book measured 5.80 metres and contained 100,100 pages.

Mr. Umesh received the latest certificate at the IIT Madras Alumni Industry Interaction Centre, Chennai. P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, felicitated him for the achievement.

The college management, principal, teachers, students and alumni also felicitated Mr. Umesh. The recognition places his latest achievement alongside his earlier Guinness World Record involvement, with the new record based on the participation of 1,572 authors in a simultaneous signing.
