Both Al Nassr and Al Ettifaq have opened the 2026-27 Saudi Pro League season with identical winning records, setting up a high-stakes clash between the reigning champions and a resurgent side looking to prove last season's seventh-place finish was an aberration.

The two clubs sit level on points near the summit of the Saudi Pro League table after each securing victories in their opening two fixtures. Al Nassr, the defending champion, will look to establish separation at the top when they travel to face Al Ettifaq on Tuesday.

Champions Return with Statement Wins

Al Nassr ended a seven-year wait for the Saudi league crown last term, finally delivering Cristiano Ronaldo a piece of silverware that had eluded him in recent years. The Knight of Najd have continued that form into the new campaign with dominant performances, defeating Al Fateh 4-0 and Al Riyadh 3-0 in their opening fixtures.

The scorelines suggest Al Nassr's attacking machinery is operating at full capacity. Cristiano Ronaldo has one goal so far this season, while teammates Joao Felix and Angelo have each found the net twice, scoring once in each of the opening two matches.

When the sides did meet in an earlier third-round clash, Al Ettifaq capitalized on Al Nassr's misfortune. Al Nassr goalkeeper Bento received a straight red card in the 12th minute for tripping Dembele outside the box as the Al Ettifaq forward advanced on goal, leaving the champions to play the remainder of the match with ten men.

Slovak midfielder Duda punished the numerical disadvantage in the 31st minute, collecting the ball on the edge of the Al Nassr box and firing a shot that young substitute keeper Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi fumbled into the net, handing Al Ettifaq an early lead.
