Air India pilot found dead in Delhi hotel room during Boeing 787 training conversion

An Air India pilot undergoing conversion training was discovered dead in his hotel room in Vasant Kunj during a layover in the capital, with police investigators ruling out any suspicion of foul play.

The pilot had checked into the hotel on September 10 and was found dead the following evening after his brother raised the alarm. The brother contacted the hotel manager on the evening of September 11, informing him that the pilot was not responding to his calls.

Discovery and Investigation

When the manager reached the room, he found it locked from inside. The door was opened using the hotel's master key, and the pilot was found lying unconscious and unresponsive. A post-mortem examination was subsequently conducted at Safdarjung Hospital on September 12.

The deceased pilot had previously worked with Air India Express and was undergoing conversion training to operate wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft at the time of his death, according to airline officials.

Air India issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the passing of the cockpit crew member in Delhi. Police have confirmed that further enquiry is in progress.
