AIIMS Mangalagiri inaugurates new Burns and Plastic Surgery Block

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, has launched a dedicated Burns and Plastic Surgery Block, inaugurated on Thursday by Executive Director Prof. Ahanthem Santa Singh. The new facility aims to enhance specialised burn care by offering acute burn management, multidisciplinary critical care, and comprehensive rehabilitation services.

AIIMS-Mangalagiri Expands Critical Care Infrastructure

During the inauguration, Prof. Singh highlighted the institute's transformation into a fully functional 970-bed tertiary care hospital, now housing 43 clinical and non-clinical departments. He noted a significant expansion in critical care capacity, with operational ICU beds increasing from the sanctioned 50 to 118.

Emergency services have also been bolstered, doubling bed capacity from 30 to 60, including 10 dedicated Emergency ICU beds. This upgrade is expected to facilitate faster and more comprehensive emergency care. Additionally, AIIMS-Mangalagiri is preparing to commission an advanced 256-slice CT scanner in the near future, further strengthening its diagnostic capabilities.

A Step Forward for Specialised Care

The inauguration of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Block marks a significant milestone for AIIMS-Mangalagiri, which continues to expand its medical infrastructure and services. The presence of senior officials, including Medical Superintendent Rajashekar Mohan and Dean (Academics) Desu Rama Mohan, underscored the importance of this development in meeting the region's growing healthcare needs.

This new block is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the complexities of burn treatment, from immediate care to long-term rehabilitation, while the broader infrastructure upgrades reflect AIIMS-Mangalagiri's commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centric care.
