Aligarh's Lodha police arrested a youth on Saturday evening after recovering an illegal firearm and live cartridges from his possession during a routine patrol operation in the Transport Nagar area of the city.
According to police, officers were conducting patrol duty on Saturday evening when, at around quarter to eight, an informer alerted them that a suspicious-looking youth was standing in Transport Nagar. Acting on the tip-off received from the informer, the police team formed a squad and nabbed the youth.
During a search of the person, police recovered one country-made pistol and two live cartridges of 315 bore from his possession. When questioned, the youth identified himself as Karan Kumar, son of Dharmendra Kumar, and said he is a resident of Transformer Wali Gali under the jurisdiction of Banna Devi police station.
Police took action against the youth under relevant sections and sent him to jail on Sunday.
