Woman widow seeks police intervention in property dispute with in-laws in Muzaffarnagar

A woman in Muzaffarnagar has approached the Senior Superintendent of Police seeking justice in a bitter property dispute with her in-laws, alleging eviction, physical assault, threats, and illegal occupation of family assets. The petitioner, Sudha, widow of the late Shivkumar and daughter-in-law of former freedom fighter Shraddhanand Tyagi, has also expressed a desire for euthanasia citing severe mental distress caused by the ongoing harassment.

Sudha, a resident of the Chhappar police station area, has filed a detailed complaint naming her mother-in-law Hukumvati and another family member, Jugmindra, as the primary accused. According to her petition, her troubles began after her husband's death in 2009, when her in-laws allegedly started a sustained campaign to evict her from the family property and seize her rightful share. She has accused them of multiple attempts to harm her and claims that on August 24, 2026, she was physically assaulted and threatened. The petitioner has also stated that a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code has already been registered at Chhappar police station regarding property and document-related issues.

In her petition, Sudha has emphasized the severe mental trauma her family has endured due to the prolonged dispute. She has demanded an impartial investigation by senior police officials, immediate security for herself and her property, and strict legal action against the accused if the allegations are proven. She has also sought enforcement of her legal rights over the disputed property.
