Vegetable vendor's ear partially severed in brutal assault at Pratapgarh market

A vegetable vendor suffered a severe injury when his ear was partially severed during a brutal assault at the vegetable market in Pratapgarh, with police registering a case against three accused persons following the attack.

The incident took place around 10 pm on 11 September at the vegetable market in the Kotwali Nagar area. Mohammad Faisal alias Aman, a resident of Paltan Bazar, was sitting at his vegetable shop with his friend Abdul Kalam when the attack occurred. Police have registered a case against three accused based on the complaint filed by Faisal.

According to the complaint, Anas son of Puttun, a resident of Vivek Nagar, Parvez son of Munna Jailer, a resident of Sabzi Mandi Shiv Mandir, and one unidentified person arrived at the shop in an intoxicated state and began hurling abuses at the vendor and his friend. When Faisal objected to their behaviour, the three accused attacked him and his companion with sticks and a knife.

The assault left Faisal with a grievous injury to his ear, with a portion of the ear severed and falling to the ground. The injured vendor is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Police have registered a case numbered 547/26 under sections 115(2), 352, and 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the complaint. The investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Prashant Dubey. During the registration of the case, an error was made in recording the date of the incident, which police later corrected by filing a correction entry to reflect the accurate date as 11 September 2026.
