Uttar Pradesh school surrounded by floodwater forces students through knee-deep water

A primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Shravasti district is grappling with severe waterlogging, forcing students to wade through knee-deep water to reach their classes.

The primary school in Mankaura village, under gram panchayat Parsona in the aspirational Jamunha block, has been surrounded by rainwater on all sides, creating major difficulties for students. The waterlogging has affected not only the school premises but also the approach road, compelling children to walk through knee-deep water to attend school.

According to villagers, rainwater accumulated around the school compound is not draining away. Both students and teachers are facing problems commuting as water has filled the area from the road to the school premises. Parents are also worried about their children's safety due to the waterlogged conditions.

The village pradhan explained that some villagers have blocked a tap, which has prevented water drainage and caused the waterlogging situation around the school. Villagers have demanded that the concerned authorities arrange for proper water drainage and resolve the problem at the earliest.
