Unnao Chairperson files fraud case over illegal land dealings

Unnao’s District Panchayat Chairperson, Shakun Singh, has filed a case of fraud against five individuals, including a former block chief, accusing them of illegal land dealings and encroachment. The complaint, registered at Kotwali Sadar police station, revolves around a valuable plot of land located in Adarsh Nagar. The police have begun investigating the matter based on Singh’s allegations.

According to Shakun Singh, her late husband, Ajit Singh, had legally purchased half of the land in question on April 11, 2000, from Sheetla Prasad Singh through a registered sale deed. At the time, Chhagan Lal, acting as the authorized representative of the seller, completed all legal formalities for the transaction. After her husband’s death in 2004, Shakun Singh discovered the property and had it officially transferred to her name using the necessary documents.

However, Singh claims that in 2012, Chhagan Lal fraudulently executed a second sale deed for the same land in favor of former block chief Ashok Singh and his wife, Rama Singh. She alleges that Chhagan Lal was fully aware that the land had already been sold in 2000 and payment had been made. Despite this, he allegedly concealed the facts and proceeded with the second sale. Furthermore, Shakun Singh accuses Ashok Singh, Rama Singh, and witnesses Suresh Kumar and Rajendra Tiwari of conspiring to carry out the fraudulent transaction and illegally occupying the land.

Shakun Singh has demanded strict action against the accused under relevant legal sections and requested that her land be restored to her possession. Meanwhile, Kotwali Sadar police have confirmed that a case has been registered and all related documents, sale deeds, and revenue records are being thoroughly examined. They assured that further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

The case has sparked widespread discussions in Unnao, with political and social circles closely watching the police investigation. All eyes are now on the authorities to see what evidence emerges and what steps are taken against the accused.
