Traders Report Monkey Attacks, Panic in Hamirpur’s Subhash Bazaar

An increasing monkey menace in Hamirpur’s Subhash Bazaar has become a growing threat to the safety of traders and customers, according to the Nagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal. Traders have raised concerns over repeated incidents of monkey attacks in the market and the fear spreading among shopkeepers and visitors.

Nagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal president Dheeru Gupta submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate along with other traders. Through the memorandum, the traders demanded relief from the nuisance caused by monkeys on a regular basis.

According to the traders, groups of monkeys are creating panic in the market and attacking people from time to time. Several people have reportedly been injured after being bitten by monkeys, adding to the fear among shopkeepers.

The monkeys are also attacking goods kept in shops. Customers are worried about moving around the market because of the possibility of attacks.

The monkey menace has become a major problem as crowds are expected to increase in the market for Dhanteras and Diwali. Traders said they are concerned that a major accident could happen at any time, while the situation is also affecting their shop business.

The traders appealed to the District Magistrate to arrange for the monkeys to be captured. They also demanded the formation of a Forest Department team to catch the monkeys and free the Subhash Bazaar area from the menace.
