Shravasti residents demand action on crumbling roads and waterlogging crisis

Residents and traders of Birganj Bazaar in Shravasti district have finally voiced their frustration over the deplorable condition of roads and persistent waterlogging that has plagued the area for years. Despite repeated appeals to authorities ranging from the District Magistrate to the Chief Minister's portal, the problems remained unresolved, prompting local leaders to escalate the matter.

On the invitation of town president Nand Kumar Gupta, MLA Ram Feran Pandey and former BJP district president Mahesh Mishra 'Om' visited Birganj Bazaar to hear grievances from the distressed residents and business community. The visit came after administrative indifference had left the local population with no other recourse.

Birganj Bazaar, located in Patna gram panchayat under the aspirational block Jamunaaha in Shravasti, has been grappling with broken roads and waterlogging for several years. The stretch from the block headquarters at Birganj Bazaar to Laxmanpur-Gangapur crossing, and the road between Community Health Centre Malhipur and village Patna, remain in a dilapidated state.

The severe waterlogging has become a daily ordeal not only for local residents and schoolchildren commuting to the market but also for ambulance services from CHC Malhipur and other travelers. What is particularly striking is that despite regular movement of officials from Jamunaaha tehsil, block administration and district-level authorities along this main route, no attention has been paid to its maintenance.

Four days prior to the MLA's visit, teams from the Zila Panchayat and the Public Works Department (PWD) Shravasti had conducted an inspection of the bazaar following continuous complaints from residents. However, no actual work commenced on the ground even after this inspection, deepening the sense of administrative neglect among the local population.

Addressing the gathered crowd of residents and traders, MLA Ram Feran Pandey assured that a permanent solution to the serious problem of road damage and waterlogging would be arranged at the earliest and repair work on the road would begin soon.

Present on the occasion were town president Nand Kumar Gupta, Santosh Kumar, Monu Gupta, Sonu Gupta, Raja Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Heera Lal Gupta, Murarilal, Shivankar, Pramod Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Pyarelal, media in-charge Mohammed Shah Azam, and Vishnu Gupta, along with a large number of traders and local villagers.
