Ghaziabad police have arrested a serial offender identified as Danish for stealing brass idols and worship materials from a Shani temple in the Crossing Republik police station area. Police recovered stolen goods worth approximately two and a half lakh rupees from the accused.
ACP Priyashree Pal said that police received information about the theft at the temple on the morning of 2 September. Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot, launched an investigation and conducted an intensive examination of CCTV footage. Through the CCTV footage, police successfully traced the offender Danish.
Police arrested the accused Danish and recovered the brass idols and worship materials stolen from the temple. The accused already has several criminal cases registered against him. Cases under POCSO, NDPS Act and two theft cases are already registered against him.
Police said that the arrest of the accused will help curb incidents of theft from temples in the area. Further investigation is underway.
