The Samajwadi Party observed the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, described as the Iron Man of India and the maker of a united India, as “Communal Harmony Day” in Bisauli, Badaun. The programme was held with great enthusiasm and celebration.

The event was organised in the 112 Bisauli Assembly constituency. Samajwadi Party workers and office-bearers took part in the programme. It began with the garlanding of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s portrait and the offering of flowers as a tribute.

Satish Premi, former state coordinator, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, “Government of India”, was present as the chief guest. In his address, he spoke in detail about Sardar Patel’s life and contribution.

Satish Premi said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was not only a politician but also a symbol of India’s unity. He said Patel, through his strong willpower and iron resolve, brought together 562 small and large princely states and built a strong and united India.

“If Sardar Patel had not been there, the map of India today would have been different,” Satish Premi said.

He said the country needs leadership like Sardar Patel’s today, leadership that can rise above caste and religion and bind the country together in a bond of unity. He also said that the Samajwadi Party has always worked to take forward Sardar Patel’s ideas.

Other speakers present at the programme also remembered Sardar Patel’s contribution. They said that after the country’s Independence, he merged the princely states and brought India together as one. The speakers also said that Sardar Patel had always struggled for the interests of farmers, labourers and the general public.

At the end of the programme, all those present raised their hands and took a pledge for national unity. They resolved to preserve the unity and integrity of the country.

The participants also called for following the path shown by Sardar Patel and maintaining communal harmony in society.
