Police to Hold 'Bahu-Beti' Meets to Boost Women's Safety in Prayagraj
Police to conduct ‘Bahu-Beti Sammelans’ in Prayagraj to raise awareness on women's health, safety, and rights. Empowering women across villages.
Prayagraj: As part of an initiative under Mission Shakti, police teams will conduct ‘Bahu-Beti Sammelans’ across villages in the Prayagraj range to raise awareness about women’s health, safety, and rights. These sessions will take place in the districts of Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, and Pratapgarh. Topics to be covered include women’s health and nutrition—particularly anaemia—hygiene, child and women’s safety, legal rights, helpline numbers, and cyber security.
The Fatehpur police have identified over 70 villages across 22 police stations where the sammelans will be held between June 21 and 28. Additionally, the sessions will provide information on Mission Shakti schemes, financial independence, the role of self-help groups, and child health.
Special focus will be placed on educating girls and adolescent females about issues such as molestation, harassment, child protection, provisions of the Pocso Act, safe behaviour, and the legal and social consequences of eloping. Fatehpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhimanyu Manglik stated that the initiative aligns with the recommendations of the ‘Police Manthan-2025’ report by the director general of police. Its primary objective is to promote women’s safety, empowerment, and self-reliance.
“These sammelans will also serve as a platform to address women’s grievances, provide counselling, and offer necessary assistance to ensure their safety, respect, and empowerment,” SP Manglik added.
