Police bust illegal weapons unit, arrest two for making and selling country pistols

Police in Banda district have busted an illegal weapons manufacturing unit and arrested two persons who were allegedly making country-made pistols at their home and selling them across the region for up to eight thousand rupees per piece. The raid, conducted late evening on August 24-25, 2026, led to the recovery of six functional pistols, one non-functional pistol, two semi-finished pistols, two live cartridges, and a large cache of weapon-making tools including drills, hammers, chisels, and other equipment.

The operation was carried out by Naraini police station team under the leadership of Circle Officer Praveen Kumar and close supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Shivraj, following a tip-off from an informer. Acting on intelligence that some individuals were manufacturing illegal weapons inside a house on the outskirts of Motihari village, the police team immediately cordoned off the area and conducted a raid. The two accused were caught red-handed in the act of manufacturing firearms and taken into custody.

During interrogation, the arrested men confessed to running the illegal operation from their home and revealed they had been selling the locally-made pistols for seven to eight thousand rupees each in Banda and neighbouring districts. Police Superintendent Palash Bansal has directed sustained action against illegal arms manufacturing, storage, and sale in the region, and investigators are now gathering information about the network of suppliers, buyers, and accomplices involved in the racket.

Based on the information extracted from the accused, police are working to identify other persons linked to this weapons manufacturing and supply chain. A case has been registered at Naraini police station under relevant sections of law, and the arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody. Banda police have stated that the crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing and trade will continue, and strict legal action will be taken against all those involved in such criminal activities.
