The arrested accused has been identified as Abhishek Sonkar, son of Shri Prakash Sonkar, a resident of Jharia Jagdishpur Babatrapur, Post Pindra, Phulpur police station area in Varanasi.
During interrogation, Abhishek Sonkar told police that he was involved in drug trafficking along with an accomplice. He revealed that he engaged in this illegal activity for money and to fulfill his indulgences.
Police said the accused was traveling from Godhna More service road towards Chandauli to make a supply delivery on the instructions of his associate when the task force intercepted and apprehended him.
From the spot, police recovered 1 kilogram and 20 grams of heroin, one motorcycle, one mobile phone and Rs 650 in cash.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and police have begun further investigation into the matter.
