Police arrest five in Ujjain stabbing that killed two at roadside dhaba

Police in Ujjain have arrested five main accused in connection with a stabbing incident and double homicide that occurred at Lucky Dhaba on the night of August 26, 2026. The swift action by Chimanganj Mandi police station has brought the suspects into custody, while the search for other accused continues.

The violent incident took place on Kanipura-Tarana Road at Lucky Dhaba following a dispute between groups. Two people were killed in the knife attack: Rahul Darbar and dhaba owner Tammu alias Jitendra Panwar. Several others who attempted to intervene also sustained injuries during the altercation. Upon receiving information, Chimanganj Mandi police immediately rushed to the spot and the hospital to initiate necessary action.

Given the gravity of the incident, Station House Officer Vivek Kanodia informed senior officials and formed a special police team to apprehend the accused. The team conducted raids at probable locations and maintained continuous efforts to track down those involved in the crime.

The five arrested accused are Arpit Atal son of Pritam Atal from Pawasa, Ujjain; Shakti Singh alias Aniket son of Pritam Atal from Pawasa, Ujjain; Raghav son of Dinesh Bairagi from Bada Bazaar, Kayatha, Ujjain district; Sanjay Parmar alias Durgesh son of Murlidhar Parmar from village Kanardi, Tarana police station area, Ujjain district; and Anna alias Anil son of Motilal Kachhwah (Banjara) from Ujjain. Police are interrogating them to ascertain the cause of the incident, sequence of events, and involvement of other persons.

A case has been registered at Chimanganj Mandi police station under sections 190, 191(2), 191(3), and 103 of BNS. Police are also working to recover the weapons used in the crime and other crucial evidence. Authorities have assured that no accused involved in the incident will be spared, and effective measures are underway to ensure the arrest of all remaining suspects.
