Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday, June 20, 2026, during an event in Tarakeswar, West Bengal. Under this instalment, over 9.44 crore eligible farmers across the country will receive ₹2,000 each, amounting to a total direct transfer of ₹18,880 crore into beneficiary accounts. Notably, more than 2.18 crore women farmers will benefit from this disbursement. Since its launch on February 24, 2019, the scheme has distributed over ₹4.46 lakh crore, according to the Union Agriculture Ministry.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted that in West Bengal alone, over 45.35 lakh farmers will receive ₹907 crore under this instalment. With this, the cumulative amount distributed under the PM-KISAN scheme in the state will exceed ₹15,055 crore.

In addition to the PM-KISAN instalment, the Prime Minister will also launch the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS). For the 2026-27 period, these schemes aim to provide crop insurance coverage to 1.10 crore farmers across 30 lakh hectares of agricultural land, protecting crops worth ₹28,140 crore. The Union and state governments will jointly offer premium subsidies of approximately ₹777 crore to support this initiative.
