PM Modi to Disburse ₹2,000 to Farmers in West Bengal Soon

The 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, which provides ₹2,000 to farmers three times a year, is expected to be disbursed soon. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to release the funds during his visit to West Bengal on an upcoming Saturday.

According to a government press release, this installment will transfer ₹18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmers across the country. In West Bengal alone, more than 45.35 lakh farmers are set to receive a total of ₹907 crore. Since the scheme's inception, farmers in the state have already benefited from over ₹15,055 crore in financial aid.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, has distributed over ₹4.46 lakh crore to farmers nationwide. The upcoming disbursement will further bolster this initiative, which aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers.

During his visit to West Bengal's Hooghly district, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and launch several development projects. These initiatives, spanning agriculture, rural development, fisheries, roads, railways, and animal husbandry, are designed to support farmers, create employment opportunities, and enhance infrastructure in the region.
