Mysuru civic body to deliver birth, death certificates by post for ₹100
Mysuru City Corporation will deliver birth and death certificates by post for ₹100, with applicants opting for doorstep delivery during application.
Residents seeking birth and death certificates from the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) can now have the documents delivered to their doorstep, removing the need for a second visit to an MCC office for collection.
The facility was introduced through an agreement signed by the MCC and the Mysuru Postal Division on October 29. Under the arrangement, certificates will be sent to the address provided by applicants for a delivery fee of ₹100.
Consent required at the time of application
The service will be available at the MCC headquarters and all nine zonal offices. Applicants who want doorstep delivery must submit a consent form and provide their postal address while applying for a birth or death certificate.
MCC Commissioner M.K. Savita and Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mysuru division, G. Harish, signed the agreement at the MCC office on October 29. The arrangement allows applicants to opt for delivery during the application process instead of returning to an MCC office to collect the certificate.
The certificates will be dispatched through the India Post network to addresses anywhere in the country. The delivery charge of ₹100 will be collected from recipients through cash on delivery when the documents are handed over.
Government hospitals briefed
The initiative is expected to save applicants the time and travel expenses involved in making another visit to an MCC office. It is also intended to reduce the inconvenience of returning to the corporation’s offices after applying for the documents.
Officials from government hospitals were briefed about the agreement. These hospitals are not under the MCC’s administrative jurisdiction. The MCC expects the hospitals concerned to explore similar arrangements with the Postal Department in the coming days.
Representatives of government-run and private hospitals, along with officials from the MCC and the Postal Department, attended the programme.
