MoES Secretary Srinivasa Kumar to inaugurate ASTC convention in Hyderabad

Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary T. Srinivasa Kumar will inaugurate the annual convention of the Academy for Science, Technology & Communication (ASTC) in Hyderabad on October 30.

He will also deliver the foundation day distinguished lecture at Balakrishna Hall, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Uppal Road.

Science, resources and advanced technologies

The programme will feature a special c on “Earth Sciences, Strategic Resources & Advanced Technologies for India’s Future”.

The convention will also include the presentation of the ASTC Annual Awards in five categories.

The categories are Lifetime Achievement Awards, Excellence Awards in Science and Technology, Science Popularisation Awards, Best Academician Awards, and Best Startup Awards.

Among those expected to participate are U. Kamachi Mudali, Vice-Chancellor of Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, and former MoES Secretary M. Ravichandran.

The Directors of the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, are also expected to participate.

Publications on preventive healthcare

ASTC will release two issues of ASTC Communications as part of the programme.

The publication is aimed at promoting public awareness of preventive healthcare, according to the information provided by ASTC.

The two issues are titled Healthy Kidneys for Life: Chronic Kidney Disease - Awareness, Screening and Prevention and Eye Health for Everyone: Awareness, Early Checks & Prevention.

Healthy Kidneys for Life has been authored by Sree Bhushan Raju, while Eye Health for Everyone has been authored by Vipin Das Anthony.
